Alexis Carfrae
Alexis Carfrae is from Waukee, Iowa and, is pursuing degrees in Political Science and Ethics and Public Policy, as well as a certificate in Political Risk Analysis. She is also pursuing University Honors in addition to Honors in the Political Science major.
Alexis is heavily involved in the Undergraduate Student Government on campus, currently serving as the Speaker of the Senate. She began her involvement with USG in the fall of 2020, previously serving as a first-year Senator, at-large Senator, Internal Affairs Committee Chair, and USG Secretary. Alexis was a delegate on behalf of the University of Iowa and USG at the Association of Big10 Students Winter Conference in January of 2022.
She also serves as the Associate Director of Hawk the Vote, a nonpartisan initiative through the Division of Student Life that works to empower, educate, and encourage voters on the University of Iowa Campus. Through this role, Alexis works to register eligible voters and advocate for more accessible election laws.
Alexis is completing a press fellowship with Congresswoman Cindy Axne in her Washington D.C. office before beginning her junior year at Iowa. She hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Political Science after graduation, with the goal of ultimately becoming a professor.
