Katie earned a BA in political science from Iowa in 2001 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. While at Iowa, she served as vice president of the Psi Beta chapter of Chi Omega and was active with Dance Marathon.

In 2004, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. 

She is an attorney with GATX Corporation in Chicago. Previously, she was with Mayer Brown, where she worked in the firm’s finance group in the Chicago, Frankfurt and London offices. She was also a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellow, has experience in the non-profit sector and practiced with Kirkland & Ellis.
