Career Information

Career Courses
We are the only Department of Political Science in the nation to offer a semester-long three-credit course that educates students on the impressive array of career options open to them. Students learn first-hand from successful alums of our department about job opportunities in public service, business, the non-profit sector, law, education, and other fields. These alums help students understand how to build their skills, land valuable internships, network professionally, and secure a great first job. We also offer one-credit mini courses that take a deep dive into specific career areas.

Career Workshops
Several alumni-driven career workshops are offered every year on topics such as working on Capitol Hill, public policy, and more. Each workshop includes essential tips and a Q&A.

Career-ready Training

Alumni Mentoring
Students can work one-on-one with successful alums for mentoring and career assistance. These connections, along with our annual Speed Networking event with alumni advisory board members, give students valuable professional advice and an exceptional advantage in the job field. Internships
There are a number of internship opportunities available for every career interest. We provide students with a weekly list of the latest internship opportunities, offer scholarships to cover expenses, and provide references for competitive positions. Find out more on our Internship Support page.
