Are you interested in going to law school? The Department of Political Science actively supports our students as they prepare for the law school application process and the study of law. 

Students in our department have exclusive access to:

  • Specialized resources and information in our ongoing ICON site
  • Regular programming throughout the year—both webinars and in-person workshops—focused on all aspects of preparation for and application to law school
  • Undergraduate scholarships specifically for students planning to attend law school
  • Coursework designed to prepare students for the rigors of graduate and professional school
  • Personalized pre-law advising from Martha Kirby, a nationally recognized pre-law advisor

Law School Readiness Program
The Law School Readiness Program (LSRP) provides personalized pre-law services to students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) who are first-generation college students and/or identify as members of an ethnic or racial group underrepresented in the legal profession.  Made possible through a CLAS Strategic Initiatives Grant, hallmarks of the program include:

  • Specialized pre-law and legal careers programming
  • Mentoring from law students and local attorneys
  • Personalized assistance with law school application preparation
  • Financial assistance for the law school application process
  • Community-building through planned social events with program participants
