International Studies Association (ISA) Midwest named Kelly Kadera as the Quincy Wright Distinguished Scholar and Willow Kreutzer received the Lynne Rienner Award for Best Paper Presented by a Graduate Student.

Meet the newest members of the Political Science Alumni Advisory Board – Andrew Bohn, Lindsay Crittendon, and Maria Makar.

University of Iowa professors Nicole Novak and Julianna Pacheco have been selected to participate in a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation leadership program that connects community researchers from across the country.

Hoshik Nam has been awarded a Ballard and Seashore Dissertation Fellowship for spring 2023. This award is provided by the Graduate College and gives students an opportunity to focus on completing the dissertation in their final semester. 

Publication investigates whether childhood health status influences adult political ideology and whether health at subsequent life-stages, adolescent personality traits, or adolescent academic aptitude mediate this relationship.

The Department of Political Science welcomes ten new graduate students to academic year 2022-2023.

The Iowa Commission of Latino Affairs has announced the six Iowans who will be inducted into the Iowa Latino Hall of Fame this fall. Among the honorees is Alexia Sanchez, Class of 2020.

Since 2007, the Department of Political Science has conducted the Hawkeye Poll, a series of national and state public opinion polls that have resulted in important research by faculty and graduate students and that have exposed hundreds of undergraduates to the process of survey research.

Several students received scholarships for exciting internships this summer. The scholarships help offset the costs of travel, housing, and living expenses for internships outside of the Iowa City area.

Every semester, the department offers career-focused courses taught by political science alumni. This spring, Andrea Woodard (’07) lead the Political Science Alumni Mentoring Program.

The Hawkeye Poll is a cooperative venture between faculty and graduate students in which members help implement the survey in exchange for the opportunity to place questions on it.
