Colin Case is an Assistant Professor of Political Science with research interests in American politics and political methodology. His primary research agenda focuses on the strategic behavior of congressional candidates and members of Congress with a methodological focus on measurement and text as data. In ongoing projects, his work seeks to measure the policy positioning of congressional candidates from campaign website text, both at the aggregate level and in individual policy areas. Using these measurements, he is interested in explaining changes in candidate positioning and the broader implications of these positions for election and legislative outcomes. Before coming to the University of Iowa, he earned a Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from the University of Michigan.
