Tahia received a Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) and a Master of Social Sciences (MSS) in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. She has worked at multiple research centers, primarily on topics such as human rights, refugee crisis, and foreign policy. 

Her primary research areas include human security, migration, transitional states, civil wars, and the human rights frameworks of international organizations.
